Scholarships
Scholarships are another form of gift aid. Scholarships are usually given for achievements in academics, arts, or athletics. Some might be based on financial need. There are so many scholarships available, which means it's likely you qualify for some.
Some scholarships are merit based. You earn them by meeting or exceeding certain standards set by the scholarship-giver. They might be awarded based on academic achievement, or a combination of academics and a special talent, trait or interest. Other scholarships are based on financial need.
Some Mistakes That Destroy Scholarship Applications
- Misspells. Spelling mistakes can cause an application to be thrown out. Use the computer spell check.
- Your personal information is listed inaccurately. Ask someone read for context and spelling problems.
- Leaving spaces blank. If the question or statement is not applicable, write DNA on the line, which is the standard abbreviation or acronym for Does Not Apply.
